About the Company:

We are delighted to be working with a well-established and growing Chartered financial planning firm, established in 2009 and providing a modern approach to financial planning for high-net-worth individuals and the employee benefit market.

The business currently manages over £420 million of client assets and has built a strong reputation for professionalism, technical expertise and high standards of client service.

Due to ambitious growth plans over the next five years, the business is expanding its highly valued Paraplanning team to support its growing team of client-facing Advisers.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience within financial services who is looking to develop their career within Paraplanning, gain further technical knowledge and work towards their Level 4 qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support to experienced Paraplanners within the team.
  • Receive and act on instructions from Advisers and Paraplanners following client meetings.
  • Support the servicing of existing client business.
  • Complete platform-based administration and related tasks.
  • Obtain illustrations and product information from providers.
  • Liaise directly with clients and wrap/platform providers regarding outstanding documentation and queries.
  • Maintain accurate client records using the firm's internal back-office systems.
  • Assist with the preparation of suitability letters and reports as part of the Paraplanning training programme.
  • Analyse client information and undertake basic financial planning, fund and product research.
  • Provide supporting records and evidence for research undertaken.
  • Assist with producing appropriate solutions to meet client needs and objectives.
  • Ensure client files remain accurate, complete and compliant.
  • Work within established compliance and business processes.
  • Assist the wider Paraplanning team with ad-hoc projects when required.

What We're Looking For:

  • Ideally 2+ years' experience working within a financial planning or IFA environment.
  • A genuine interest in developing a career in Paraplanning.
  • Ideally working towards, or committed to working towards, the Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.
  • Good understanding of the financial planning process.
  • Some knowledge of pensions, investments and protection products.
  • Experience using computerised management systems and financial platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a conscientious approach.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience using Intelligent Office (IO) would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience working with wrap/platform providers.
  • Experience obtaining illustrations and product information from providers.
  • Exposure to suitability reports, financial planning research or paraplanning processes.
  • Progress towards the Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.
  • Experience working within a compliance-focused financial services environment.

The successful candidate will be self-driven, reliable and motivated to develop, with a positive and professional attitude.

This role would suit someone who is keen to take the next step in their financial services career and develop their technical knowledge within a supportive Paraplanning environment. You will need to be organised, conscientious and comfortable taking responsibility for your own workload, while also being a strong team player.
