We re hiring a System Administrator for a long-term state government engagement in Baltimore 5 years of stable, meaningful infrastructure work systems across Unix/Linux environments.
If you ve administered multi-user Unix/Linux systems, know your way around CRON, scripting, and HP-UX/Linux enterprise servers, and can handle both routine maintenance and emergency on-call response let s talk.
What you ll own:
Monitor & coordinate all data system operations & security procedures
Grant/disable Unix/Linux user access in security files & databases
Troubleshoot Unix/Linux system & hardware problems (on-call + on-site)
Perform system backups, storage rotation & recovery
Monitor system performance & capacity proactively plan for expansion
Maintain & automate system Scheduler & CRON jobs
Develop & maintain scripting procedures to automate manual processes
Install, configure & remove Unix/Linux equipment & hardware
Update Unisys SVR4 / HP-UX / Linux Enterprise Servers to state standards
Apply hardware, database & system patches to maintain currency
Document all software/hardware configuration changes
Use Maximo Service Desk to track changes, fixes & incidents
Must-haves:
Unix/Linux system administration experience
Multi-user shared processor system experience
Data communications network administration
Shell scripting & automation
CRON & system scheduler management
Maximo Service Desk familiarity (a plus)
HP-UX / Unisys SVR4 / Linux Enterprise Server experience
Associate s or Bachelor s degree in CS, IT, or related field
2+ years in computer-related field | 1+ year multi-user system admin
