Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and passionate Nursery Manager to lead our team at Banana Moon Day Nursery Hounslow.

This is an exciting opportunity for an established Nursery Manager ready to take the next step, to take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and continued development of the nursery.

As Nursery Manager, you will have overall responsibility for maintaining high standards of childcare, safeguarding, education and operational performance. You will lead and support the nursery team, build strong relationships with children and families, and ensure that the nursery provides a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment in which every child can thrive.

You will work closely with the Directors and wider Banana Moon support network to develop the nursery, maintain high standards and continue to grow occupancy while ensuring that quality of care remains at the heart of everything we do.

Salary: £47,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the nursery and provide strong, visible leadership to the team.
  • Ensure the nursery consistently delivers high-quality care and education in accordance with the EYFS.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety and child welfare.
  • Lead, motivate and develop nursery practitioners, room leaders and the management team.
  • Support staff through effective supervision, coaching, training and performance management.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels, deployment and ratios throughout the nursery.
  • Ensure nursery policies, procedures and regulatory requirements are consistently followed.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure the nursery is fully prepared for Ofsted inspections and other regulatory visits.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with parents and carers.
  • Respond effectively to parent enquiries, feedback and concerns.
  • Support the recruitment, induction and ongoing development of nursery staff.
  • Monitor occupancy, enquiries and registrations and support initiatives to grow the nursery.
  • Work closely with the Directors on staffing, budgets, nursery performance and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a positive, professional and supportive culture throughout the nursery.

The successful candidate should have:

  • Required to work during the hours of 7.30am & 6.30pm
  • A recognised Level 3 or above qualification in Early Years/Childcare.
  • Significant experience working within an early years setting.
  • Proven experience working as a Nursery Manager, with strong leadership and management skills.
  • Strong knowledge and practical understanding of the EYFS.
  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding procedures and responsibilities.
  • A good understanding of Ofsted requirements and the standards expected within an early years setting.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.
  • Experience of supervising, supporting and developing staff.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with parents, children and colleagues.
  • Confidence in managing challenging situations professionally and calmly.
  • A strong commitment to delivering high-quality childcare and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to manage both the childcare and commercial/operational aspects of a busy nursery.
  • A satisfactory enhanced DBS check and completion of all required safer recruitment checks.

Previous experience of successfully leading an Ofsted inspection would be highly advantageous.
