The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is recruiting for a premier defense contractor to identify a skilled systems engineer for high-priority national security infrastructure based in McLean, VA. This fully on-site role requires a current Top Secret clearance granting SCI access (or a full TS/SCI incorporating a Full-Scope Polygraph) and involves occasional travel capping at twenty-five percent. Our client engineers bespoke, software-driven reconnaissance platforms from scratch, focusing heavily on digital signal processing, signals intelligence, and state-of-the-art positioning capabilities. What You'll Do

• Architect and sustain critical infrastructure across physical hardware, virtualized setups, and modern cloud ecosystems.

• Drive ongoing performance optimization, monitor system health, and troubleshoot technical faults swiftly while providing reliable resolutions.

• Safeguard network integrity by evaluating, validating, and deploying critical firmware or application updates before executing company-wide rollouts.

• Synthesize emerging modern software technologies, integrating them seamlessly into existing architectural frameworks.

• Translate complex system architecture concepts and proposed fixes for non-technical stakeholders across diverse departments.

• Construct robust physical servers while validating capabilities for high-availability environments.

• Handle occasional emergency escalations outside normal business schedules to maintain uninterrupted platform availability.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in computer science (or a related engineering discipline), though extensive professional background can replace formal education.

• Five or more years functioning as an infrastructure specialist, demonstrating autonomous problem-solving capabilities.

• Possession of an active Security+ or Cissp credential.

• Demonstrated expertise in the following key areas: Enterprise Linux Administration, Cloud Environments, Docker, Kubernetes Orchestration, Ip Networks, Switching, Subnets, Vlans, Blade Chassis, Fiber Channels, San Storage.

• Strong command over multiple scripting utilities, including Bash, Python, Perl.

• Capabilities administering Rh Directory Server or Foss Directory Solutions.

• Familiarity utilizing Gitlab, Puppet Configuration Management, Gpfs, Ibm Ess File Systems is highly advantageous.
