Job Description

IT Support & Infrastructure Specialist

Hemel Hempstead/Hybrid

Circa 45,000

Are you the person everyone comes to when something isn't working?

Not just because you know how to fix it, but because you'll actually take ownership, explain what's going on without the technical jargon, and make sure it gets sorted?

If so, this could be a great next step.

We're working with an established and growing business in Hemel Hempstead that is looking for an IT Support & Infrastructure Specialist to become a key part of its internal technology team.

This isn't a role for someone who simply wants to work through a queue of tickets all day.

You'll be responsible for keeping day-to-day IT running smoothly across the business, dealing with hardware and laptop issues, Microsoft 365/Azure, user access, licences, Wi-Fi, networks and the general technology problems that inevitably crop up.

Some you'll solve yourself. Others will need specialist input from external IT partners. Either way, you'll own the problem until it's resolved, coordinating suppliers, keeping people updated and making sure nothing disappears into a black hole.

But this role isn't purely reactive.

We want someone who looks at how things are working and thinks, "Could we do this better?"

You might identify that hardware needs replacing, spot a recurring problem that needs fixing properly or see an opportunity to improve the way technology is being used. You'll have the opportunity to get involved, plan improvements and help coordinate projects through to completion.

What are we looking for?

You'll already have experience within IT support, service desk, helpdesk or a similar internal technology role and be comfortable working with Microsoft 365 and everyday business technology.

Experience with areas such as Azure/Entra, hardware support, networks, user administration, ITSM systems or external IT providers would be useful, but we're not looking for someone who knows absolutely everything.

  • We're much more interested in finding someone who is:
  • Naturally curious and enjoys solving problems
  • Enthusiastic and genuinely wants to learn
  • Happy taking responsibility rather than simply passing problems on
  • Organised and good at following things through
  • Able to explain technical information in a way that anyone can understand
  • Approachable, down-to-earth and comfortable dealing with people across a business

Technical ability matters. But so does who you are.

This is a business where culture is genuinely important. You won't need to turn up to interview and try to impress people with how technical you are. They want to meet someone who is enthusiastic about what they do, gets on with people and is comfortable being themselves.

If you're currently working in IT support and feel ready for more ownership, more variety and the opportunity to make a real difference to how technology works within a business, we'd love to hear from you.

UNFORTUANTELY WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM CANDDIATES WITHOUT THE RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK.
