Workday Developer - REMOTE

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Workday Developer for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Regulatory clients. This position is fully remote.
Seeking a Workday engineer to strengthen our HCM platform work. Although this is a contractor position, the expectations mirror a senior engineer: deep hands-on experience, sound technical judgment, and the ability to own work end to end with minimal direction. The ideal person pairs deep Workday hands-on experience with real custom-build chops (Java/Python) and is AI-forward — someone who already uses AI tooling to work faster and looks for ways to automate. This is a hands-on role for someone who ships, works independently, and raises the engineering bar around them.\n

Responsibilities :\n
\n
\n

\n
• Configure, build, and maintain solutions across the Workday HCM platform.
\n
• Design and build Workday integrations (Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, web services) for inbound and outbound data.
\n
• Extend the platform with custom development and automation that reduces manual effort.
\n
• Apply AI tooling (coding assistants, agentic workflows, LLMs) to accelerate delivery and automate routine work.
\n
• Write clean, tested, maintainable code and help uphold engineering standards and SDLC practices.

Required Skills :\n
\n
\n

\n
• Senior-level depth: several years of hands-on Workday engineering with a track record of owning complex work end to end.
\n
• Strong hands-on Workday experience — configuration and integrations in a production environment.
\n
• Hands-on experience with Workday Extend for building custom apps on the Workday platform.
\n
• Self-starter who can take an ambiguous ask, recommend an approach, and deliver without close supervision.

Preferred Skills :\n

• Custom software development experience in Java and/or Python, delivered end to end.
\n
• AI-forward working style: actively uses AI-assisted development tools and looks for opportunities to automate with AI.
\n
• Workday AI experience (e.g. Workday's AI features / AI Gateway) — a plus, not required.
\n
• AWS or cloud platform experience.
\n
• Test automation and CI/CD pipeline experience.
