Job Description

Title: BI Platform Operations Engineer/ Tableau AWS Quicksight Consultant


Type: 6-month contract + possibility of extension


Location: Toronto, ON- Hybrid 3 day's onsite / 2 day's WFH


Start Date: ASAP


Compensation: $70-$80/hour


Interview Process: 2 rounds; potentially completed on the same day


Day-to-Day Responsibilities:



  • The BI Platform Operations Engineer will provide production support across Tableau, AWS QuickSight, and the organization's custom BI-as-a-Service platform.

  • They will administer and troubleshoot the existing Tableau environment while supporting the ongoing transition to QuickSight. On the QuickSight side, they will support dashboards, permissions, configurations, deployments/promotions, and production issues.

  • They will also troubleshoot the underlying BI-as-a-Service platform, which uses Python, APIs, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Terraform, Athena, Glue, Lake Formation, Git and CI/CD. The person will investigate issues end-to-end, perform root-cause analysis, coordinate with engineering teams when necessary, and take ownership of production incidents through resolution.


Must-Haves:



  • Strong hands-on Tableau administration and production support experience, including infrastructure, troubleshooting, permissions and dashboards

  • Hands-on AWS QuickSight experience with administration, dashboards, permissions/policies and production troubleshooting; does not need to be a QuickSight expert

  • Basic-to-intermediate Python and API knowledge, with the ability to understand existing code/processes and troubleshoot backend issues

  • Strong production support, incident management and root-cause analysis experience, with demonstrated ownership of issues through resolution

  • Senior-level communication and troubleshooting maturity with the ability to independently handle high-impact incidents and communicate with technical/business stakeholders


Plusses:



  • Experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway and DynamoDB

  • Experience with Athena, AWS Glue, Lake Formation and IAM/data permissions

  • Experience with Terraform, particularly the ability to read and troubleshoot existing modules/automation

  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines and broader AWS-native environments


Experience supporting a BI-as-a-Service/platform environment or Tableau-to-QuickSight migration
