Job Description

Lead NDT Inspector | Portsmouth, VA | Hybrid

This employer is a national leader in marine surface preparation and painting, serving every U.S. Port with a mobile, full-time workforce committed to delivering quality products on time. The Role

  • Provide supervisory oversight and technical guidance to junior NDT inspectors.
  • Perform VT, UT, MT, and PT inspections on surface ship and submarine structures and piping.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on NDT for various projects.
  • Review technical work instructions and NDT inspectors' Objective Quality Evidence.
  • Conduct surveillances on trade workers and NDT inspectors to identify trends and combat non-conformance.
  • Perform complex VT, MT, PT, and UT inspections, with an emphasis on training junior inspectors.

What You'll Need

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Qualified NDT Level II inspector IAW NAVSEA requirements in Tech pub 271.
  • 5+ years of NAVSEA NDT certification in Visual testing, liquid penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, ultrasonic thickness testing, and ultrasonic shearwave testing.
  • Familiarity with welding joint design and fit-up requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and instructions.
  • Experience with SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding is highly preferred.
