Fabricator – Plater | Dumbarton, United Kingdom | On-site | £38,662

The Role

  • Interpret engineering drawings, mark off materials, and prepare plate using methods like oxy-fuel cutting and hand grinding.
  • Assemble ship structures, ensuring accurate fitting, fairing, and tack-welding of components.
  • Fabricate various ship items, including seats, ladders, panels, and watertight doors.
  • Form materials using different machine tools, such as rolling, flanging, guillotines, and saws.
  • Work within teams to produce high-quality steelwork for essential projects.

What You'll Need

  • A Modern Apprenticeship certificate or Trade Papers (SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Up-to-date fabrication knowledge and hands-on experience in construction or manufacturing.
  • Understanding and application of core manufacturing processes and tack welding.
  • Confident and responsible operation of oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting equipment.
  • Adherence to SHE principles and risk-assessment requirements.
  • Experience working safely in confined spaces or at height, with relevant certifications.
