QA Automation Engineer

Location: Houston, TX Salary: $48.00 USD Hourly - $50.00 USD Hourly Description: Our client is currently seeking a QA Automation Engineer

We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer with strong Python experience to support a backend-heavy, API-driven, and database-integrated application environment. This role focuses on expanding automated test coverage across APIs, database workflows, integrations, and UI applications while supporting Agile Scrum sprint delivery.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites using Python, Playwright, Selenium, PyTest, or similar frameworks.

Perform backend, API, database, and system integration testing to ensure data accuracy and application reliability.

Develop and maintain automated regression testing coverage.

Partner with Product Owners and Developers during refinement sessions to convert acceptance criteria into automated test cases.

Execute functional, integration, and regression testing within Agile Scrum sprints.

Maintain Git-based automation repositories and troubleshoot automation pipeline failures.

Create regression tests for customer-reported defects and production issues.

Support continuous improvement of automation frameworks, testing processes, and overall software quality.

Utilize modern AI tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot to accelerate test development and planning activities.

Required Qualifications

3+ years of software testing and automation experience.

Strong hands-on Python experience.

Experience with Playwright, Selenium, PyTest, or similar automation frameworks.

Strong experience testing REST APIs and microservices.

Experience performing SQL and database validation testing.

Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or similar databases.

Working knowledge of Git and version control practices.

Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.

Exposure to AWS cloud environments.

Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Desired Skills: Python, Playwright, Selenium, PyTest, REST APIs, Microservices, SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, AWS.
