Role Summary

Seeking an experienced QE Automation Engineer to lead test strategy, automation framework development, and quality delivery across data, API, and UI layers at Edward Jones. The role requires strong hands-on automation experience, the ability to integrate quality engineering into CI/CD pipelines and demonstrated adaptability in applying AI-assisted tools to testing work.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks using Selenium, Java, Cucumber BDD, and Serenity (or similar tools).

• Build and execute API automation tests using Rest Assured.

• Perform SQL-based data validation and quality checks across data pipelines, ETL processes, MDM, and Data APIs.

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and support in-sprint automation.

• Plan and execute unit, integration, API, smoke, system, and performance testing.

• Manage test data, test planning, and test execution across complex data and cloud environments.

• Work with Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, ETL tools, and data warehouse architectures (or similar tools).

• Use AI-assisted tools, such as GitHub Copilot or Claude, where available, to support test creation, code development, test-data preparation, defect analysis, and documentation. Review and validate AI-generated output before use.

• Adapt to evolving AI capabilities and testing needs by learning relevant tools, assessing where they can improve quality and efficiency, and incorporating them responsibly into QE workflows.

• Collaborate with developers, data engineers, product owners, and QE leaders in an agile delivery environment.

• Support QE strategy, coordinate testing across portfolio and product teams, and contribute to QE metric reporting.

• Review automation repositories, mentor automation engineers, and align automation architecture with product-team strategy.

Required Skills and Experience

• 7+ years of experience as an automation engineer, including hands-on design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance of automation solutions.

• Strong proficiency in Java, Selenium, Cucumber BDD, and Serenity; demonstrated experience building or maintaining automation frameworks.

• Experience with API automation using Rest Assured.

• Proficiency in SQL queries, data creation, and validation across relational databases.

• Experience testing data platforms, MDM, data pipelines, ETL processing, and Data APIs.

• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, in-sprint test automation, and CI integration.

• Experience with a range of testing types, including unit, integration, API, smoke, system, and performance testing.

• Working knowledge of QA methodologies, testing lifecycles, test planning, test-data management, and test-management tools.

• Required AI exposure and adaptability: hands-on exposure to at least one AI-assisted development or testing tool, plus the ability to describe how you used it, checked its output, and adapted your workflow based on the results.

• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and support QE strategy and metric reporting.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Azure and/or AWS ecosystems.

• Working knowledge of Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, ETL tools, and data warehouse architectures.

• Experience mentoring automation engineers and coordinating testing across product or portfolio teams.

AI-tool use: Candidates should use only tools approved for the engagement and follow applicable data-handling requirements.
