Role: Senior Director, Cybersecurity Architecture
100% Remote
NOTE: Led Enterprise Architecture teams in a global organization with at least 30,000 endpoints
The Senior Director, Cybersecurity Architecture serves as the senior leader responsible for cybersecurity architecture strategy, solution design, and architecture governance across enterprise technology environments. This leader is responsible for defining architecture standards, reusable security patterns, and governance processes that enable secure, scalable, and resilient business solutions.
Reporting to executive cybersecurity leadership, this position leads a team of security architects and engineers while serving as a trusted advisor on security, risk, resiliency, cost, and business enablement decisions. The role requires extensive experience building and leading high-performing teams, establishing technology roadmaps, and partnering with business and technology leaders to align security initiatives with organizational priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a diverse team of cybersecurity architects and engineers.
- Define and maintain enterprise cybersecurity architecture frameworks, standards, reference architectures, and design principles.
- Provide strategic leadership for architecture governance and security-by-design practices.
- Lead architecture and design reviews for major initiatives, high-risk programs, and significant technology changes.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise strategy, security requirements, risk tolerance, and long-term architecture objectives.
- Drive security transformation initiatives across cloud, identity, network, endpoint, application, and data protection domains.
- Partner with technology and business leaders to balance security, usability, resiliency, performance, and cost considerations.
- Influence enterprise investment decisions and technology modernization efforts.
- Support detection, response, recovery, and resiliency capabilities through secure architectural design.
- Lead organizational development activities including talent planning, coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
- Establish governance processes, standards, and metrics to measure architecture effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security controls into enterprise technology solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence solutions, and assess associated security risks and opportunities.
Qualifications: Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business, or a related discipline. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 12+ years of experience leading cybersecurity, technology, or engineering organizations.
- 10+ years of experience leading direct reports and developing high-performing teams.
- Extensive experience with enterprise cybersecurity architecture and governance.
- Experience influencing senior business and technology stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud platforms.
- Experience with security operations technologies, threat management practices, and vulnerability management programs.
- Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms.
- Strong communication and executive presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence across large organizations.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must be at least 18 years of age. Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Risk Management, or a related field.
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification.
- Additional industry certifications such as CISM, CISA, CCSP, CEH, or equivalent.
- Experience aligning security architecture strategies to enterprise business objectives.
- Strong executive presence with a proven ability to influence senior leadership.
- Experience developing future-state security architecture roadmaps.
- Experience within large, complex, global organizations.
- Experience integrating security requirements into mergers, acquisitions, and technology transformation initiatives.
- Experience leading organizations with 25+ direct and indirect reports.
- Knowledge of automation and scripting for security operations.
- Strong understanding of emerging cybersecurity technologies and industry best practices.
