Senior Firmware Engineer

Job Title: Senior Firmware Engineer
Location: Taunton, MA
Type: Contract 2+ years
Compensation: $64.00 - $74.00/hr
Clearance Required: Secret
 

Responsibilities

• Design and implement bare-metal firmware in C for ARM Cortex-M and other microcontroller architectures
• Develop drivers and low-level interfaces for peripherals including SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO, ADC, PWM, and timer modules
• Profile and optimize code for performance, power consumption, and memory constraints
• Work closely with hardware engineers, systems architects, and product teams to translate requirements into firmware solutions
• Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers (SWD, JTAG), and embedded testing frameworks to validate firmware functionality

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
• Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire; U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to the nature of work
• Experience with designing and implementing firmware for autonomous undersea systems or similar complex projects
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a proven ability to lead design teams
• Knowledge of R&D processes, with a focus on innovation and applying AI for continuous improvement
