Job description

Business Analyst 3 (  Austin, TX (Hybrid, up to 80–100% Remote)Location: William B. Travis State Building, Austin, TX. Hybrid; remote work from within the U.S. allowed (80–100%).
Hours: Mon–Fri, 8 AM–5 PM Central, excluding state holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit requirements through JAD sessions, workshops, interviews, surveys, document analysis, and workflow analysis
  • Analyze business processes, pain points, and system capabilities
  • Write business and functional requirements, use cases, user stories, and SRS documents
  • Create process flows, context and UML diagrams, wireframes, and mockups
  • Manage requirements traceability, change control, deadlines, and UAT coordination

Required Skills (8 years each)

  • Requirements elicitation and writing well-structured system requirements
  • SDLC experience
  • Business process re-engineering and software process flow improvement
  • User stories and use cases that follow BA best practices
  • Mockups/wireframes following UX best practices
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Strong writing and organizational skills

Required (4 years)

  • Documented experience with Atlassian Jira

Preferred

  • 4 yrs: Experience with TEA, a federal/state/local education agency, or an ed vendor
  • 3 yrs: Modern Requirements software
  • 2 yrs: Complaint and case management workflows (intake, investigation, resolution)
  • 2 yrs: Educator certification, federal/state grant programs, or state funding programs
