Job Description

Abbott Laboratories seeks an Automation Engineer to design, implement, and optimize automated systems supporting biotech and pharmaceutical manufacturing. In this role, you will develop and maintain PLC, SCADA, and HMI solutions for production and diagnostic equipment, ensuring high reliability, data integrity, and compliance with GMP and FDA regulations. You will troubleshoot system issues, lead equipment integration and validation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements. Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and maintain automation systems (PLCs, SCADA, HMIs) for production and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ensure systems comply with GMP, FDA, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements, including documentation and validation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve automation, controls, and integration issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new equipment commissioning and process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and change controls for automated systems.
  • Analyze system performance data to drive reliability, quality, and throughput improvements.
  • Support audits, qualification, and validation activities for automated processes.
  • Provide technical training and support to operations and maintenance teams.
