Job Description:
Apex Systems is looking to hire an ONSITE Aftertreatment Systems Engineer for our client based out of Hagerstown, MD.
This assignment is anticipated to be a 6-month contract with strong potential for extension; however, Apex Systems cannot guarantee the length of this assignment.
This will also have a first-shift Monday-Friday schedule. Domestic and international travel may be required.
Responsibilities:

• Support the development, validation, and production implementation of engine exhaust aftertreatment system hardware and components.
• Develop and evaluate aftertreatment components including dosing systems, catalyst substrates, coatings, exhaust components, and related hardware.
• Plan and execute aftertreatment system testing, verification, and validation activities using test rigs, engine test cells, and vehicles.
• Partner with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams throughout hardware development and production implementation.
• Collaborate with engine, aftertreatment, controls, diagnostics, software, and calibration engineering teams to resolve system-level issues.
• Execute test procedures, analyze results, and verify the accuracy and reliability of collected data.
• Investigate aftertreatment system and component performance issues and develop engineering solutions.
• Support root cause analysis and resolution of field and customer-related aftertreatment concerns.
• Develop technical recommendations based on test results, system performance, and engineering analysis.
• Support calibration development and release activities for production and service applications.
• Prepare technical reports and communicate test findings, engineering conclusions, and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Work with local and global engineering teams to support product development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 2-5+ years of engineering experience within product development, testing, validation, powertrain, emissions, or a related technical environment.
• Experience with diesel engines and/or exhaust aftertreatment system development.
• Understanding of exhaust aftertreatment hardware, emissions systems, and system-level performance.
• Experience planning, executing, and analyzing engineering tests.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate test results into technical solutions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating across engineering disciplines.
• Strong written and verbal communication and technical presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with suppliers and geographically distributed engineering teams.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

• Test data analysis and technical reporting
• Root cause analysis and engineering problem-solving

Nice to Have:

• Experience with catalyst coating and substrate technologies.
• Understanding of chemistry related to exhaust aftertreatment and emissions control.
• Experience supporting On-Board Diagnostics (OBD), engine controls, or calibration development.
• Experience taking hardware from development and validation through production implementation.
• Previous experience working in automotive, commercial vehicle, heavy-duty equipment, or powertrain engineering.
