Senior Engineer, KDB

Join our Financial Markets Technology team and help support and evolve the KDB+ platform underpinning Westpac's electronic FX and Fixed Income trading capabilities.

Working closely with engineers, quants and traders, you'll design, develop and support high-performance KDB+/q solutions across areas such as pricing, algorithmic execution, market making, risk analytics and research. You'll also contribute to the stability, performance and ongoing evolution of our global KDB+ environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting, maintaining and enhancing the global KDB+ estate.
• Designing efficient, high-performance solutions to complex trading requirements.
• Partnering with traders, quants and engineers to deliver reliable and compliant technology solutions.
• Testing and validating solutions against business, regulatory and risk requirements.
• Identifying opportunities to improve the KDB+ platform and development practices.Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Contributing to platform design, technical implementation and operational support.

What do I need?

• Strong commercial experience developing, operating and supporting KDB+ and KX Dashboard solutions within financial markets.
• Experience delivering KDB+/q solutions across FX, Rates or Credit.
• Experience partnering directly with traders, quants or other front-office stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently within a globally distributed team.
• A proactive and collaborative approach to solving technical challenges.

Experience with Java or Python, KDB+ version migrations, alpha signal generation, transaction cost analysis or AI-enabled automation would be highly regarded.
