Engineer - Market Risk

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Market Risk team without needing previous market risk domain knowledge, giving you the chance to build hands on experience in the space while working on modern engineering and AI solutions.

This Engineer sits in the Market Risk Limits squad within the Trusted Markets Release Train (FM DU), supporting the Financial Markets (FM) business with market risk capability across the market risk stack, including vendor products for limits management and reporting.

It's a hands on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems and learning quickly, with end to end ownership across design, build, automated testing, release and production support.

AI engineering is a core part of how the squad works. You'll build AI enabled tools and agents that improve how the team investigates issues, tests solutions, reconciles data and operates market risk technology.

You don't need to be a market risk expert or an experienced AI agent builder. The team is looking for self starters and self learners who are comfortable picking things up by doing the work, while escalating material risks and key design decisions to the Delivery Lead / Domain Owner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build AI enabled tools and agents to automate investigations, data quality checks, reconciliations and testing.
• Develop and enhance Java based applications, owning delivery from design and configuration through to release.
• Gain hands on exposure to Market Risk, trading platforms and regulatory change, including FRTB/APS116.
• Build and support data integrations, feeds, batch processes and reporting, using Control M, SSO and access controls.
• Own DevOps and deployment, including CI/CD, environment management, server/code builds and automated testing.
• Provide production support and troubleshooting, while working closely with Market Risk, Front Office, Technology and vendor teams to deliver solutions.

What do I need?

• Build AI enabled tools and agents to automate investigations, data quality checks, reconciliations and testing.
• Prototype new AI approaches and turn successful ideas into reliable, production ready solutions.
• Develop and enhance Java applications, covering design, configuration and end to end delivery of regulatory and product changes.
• Build experience across market risk and trading technology, including data integrations, feeds, batch processing and reporting.
• Own DevOps and deployment activities, including CI/CD, environment management, automated testing and production support.
• Work closely with Market Risk, Front Office, Technology, offshore and vendor teams to troubleshoot issues and deliver effective solutions.
