Senior Virtualization & Storage Engineer - 176007 with Security Clearance

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Virtualization & Storage Engineer to support a company focused on delivering secure, mission-critical infrastructure solutions within Department of Defense classified environments. This position is on-site in San Diego, CA. The Senior Virtualization & Storage Engineer will design, administer, and optimize enterprise virtualization and storage platforms that support classified operations and high-availability workloads.

This individual will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for maintaining resilient infrastructure, improving performance, and supporting modernization initiatives across compute and storage environments. Join a team supporting critical national defense missions by ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of enterprise infrastructure systems. Responsibilities for the Senior Virtualization & Storage Engineer include:

• Engineer, administer, and optimize VMware vSphere/ESXi environments, including clusters, resource pools, distributed switches, and high availability configurations.
• Design, implement, and maintain Dell enterprise storage platforms, SAN/NAS environments, replication strategies, snapshots, and capacity planning initiatives.
• Perform troubleshooting and performance optimization across virtualization, storage, networking, and compute infrastructure layers.
• Support infrastructure automation, DevSecOps integrations, and containerized or traditional virtual machine workloads through scripting and orchestration tools.
• Ensure compliance with RMF, DISA STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity requirements while maintaining documentation and operational runbooks. Required Qualifications for the Senior Virtualization & Storage Engineer include:
• 10+ years of experience supporting enterprise virtualization, storage, and infrastructure environments.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, Xen, and Dell enterprise storage platforms (PowerStore, Unity, PowerMax, or similar technologies).
• Strong troubleshooting experience across compute, storage, networking, and virtualization technologies within secure environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Active Secret Security Clearance.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (Security+, CySA+, GSEC, SSCP, GICSP, or CCNA Security).
• Experience supporting DoD or classified environments and working within RMF and STIG compliance frameworks.
