DB2 DBA

KayDev Technology is seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator for a 30-month contract with a New York State agency (Department of Labor) in Albany, NY.

Responsibilities:

• Administer IBM DB2 databases on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and security management.
• Analyze and resolve DB2 performance bottlenecks: query optimization, index management, buffer pool tuning, and workload management.
• Set up, configure, and manage DB2 HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery) solutions.
• Design, implement, and test backup and recovery strategies (full, incremental, and log backups, point-in-time recovery).
• Deploy and support DB2 environments on Google Cloud Platform (Compute Engine, VPCs, firewalls, Persistent Disks, IAM).
• Automate routine DBA tasks with Bash, Python, or Perl scripting.
• Configure monitoring and proactive alerting (Dynatrace, Data Management Console, or Google Cloud Platform native monitoring).
• Apply security best practices for DB2 and RHEL: user/group management, access control, encryption, and vulnerability management.

Required Qualifications:

• 72+ months of DB2 database administration on Linux
• 84+ months of Red Hat Linux administration, scripting, and troubleshooting
• 84+ months of DB2 performance tuning and optimization
• 84+ months of DB2 HADR implementation and management
• 84+ months of backup and recovery strategy design
• 84+ months of database monitoring and alerting
• 84+ months of security best practices for DB2 and RHEL
• 60+ months of Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) experience
• 60+ months of scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Perl)
• 60+ months of troubleshooting DB2/RHEL issues in Google Cloud Platform environments
