Senior Project Manager (Highways and Transport)

Our client, a London local authority, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead major highways, transport, public realm and active travel programmes. This contract role will oversee complex, high-value capital projects supporting transport, regeneration, climate change and place-making priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development and delivery of strategically significant highways and transport programmes<br />Manage projects through the full project lifecycle, including business case development, feasibility, design, engagement, approvals, procurement and implementation<br />Provide senior project leadership across multi-disciplinary teams and the wider capital portfolio<br />Act as the senior client representative for major programmes and projects<br />Manage programme governance, funding arrangements, risks, budgets and delivery milestones<br />Build effective relationships with elected Members, senior officers, Transport for London, government bodies, consultants, contractors and community stakeholders<br />Lead political and strategic stakeholder engagement to support successful programme delivery<br />Promote continuous improvement, resilience and consistent project management standards across the Capital Projects service Job

Requirements:

Significant experience managing major highways, transport, public realm or active travel programmes<br />Strong knowledge of transport infrastructure and capital project delivery<br />Experience leading projects from business case development and feasibility through to construction and implementation<br />Understanding of project governance, procurement, funding management and risk control within a public sector environment<br />Ability to lead multi-disciplinary project teams with a high degree of autonomy and professional judgement<br />Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging with senior officers, elected representatives and external delivery partners<br />Excellent communication, negotiation, reporting and influencing abilities<br />Strong understanding of transport, regeneration, climate change and place-making priorities Contract Role: This is a senior, capital-funded opportunity for an experienced project manager to contribute to complex highways and transport programmes with significant strategic and community impact.
