Hours: Part-time, approximately 20 hours/week
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable Part-Time Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial recordkeeping and support month-end close activities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on accuracy, enjoys a steady routine, and can work independently with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Post daily transactions (expenses, deposits) accurately and in a timely manner
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations across all company accounts
- Perform monthly credit card reconciliations, matching receipts to statements
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are properly coded/categorized
- Support month-end close: journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and close checklist items
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records
- Assist with preparing basic financial reports (P&L, balance sheet) for management review
- Flag discrepancies or unusual transactions for review
- Support management with documentation during tax season or audits
- Ensure compliance with company policies and standard bookkeeping practices
Qualifications
- 5+ years of bookkeeping experience (required)
- Proficiency with accounting software (preferably Quickbooks)
- Strong understanding of debits/credits, account reconciliation, and basic GAAP principles
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet recurring deadlines (weekly/monthly)
- Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Discretion in handling confidential financial information
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience supporting a small-to-mid-sized business or startup
- Familiarity with multi-entity or multi-currency bookkeeping (if applicable)
