Position Overview
Our client is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join its Infrastructure team and help operate and support the organization's enterprise network. This is a core Cisco networking role covering routing, campus switching, and data center switching, with additional responsibility for helping manage the organization's Palo Alto firewall environment. The ideal candidate is a seasoned, hands-on engineer who is comfortable owning day-to-day operations, troubleshooting complex issues, and working directly with the internal engineering team in a financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, configure, and troubleshoot enterprise routing across the WAN and data center environment (BGP, OSPF, static routing).
Manage and support campus switching infrastructure, including VLANs, spanning tree, QoS, and 802.1X network access control across wired and wireless environments.
Manage and support data center switching, including Cisco Nexus and ACI fabric operations (APIC, spine/leaf, EPGs/bridge domains, L3Outs, fabric policy).
Help administer and maintain the Palo Alto Networks firewall environment (Panorama-managed HA pairs), including security and NAT policy, GlobalProtect VPN, and day-to-day rule and policy changes.
Monitor network health and performance, and lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for routing, switching, and firewall-related incidents.
Support wireless network operations, including controller configuration and ongoing performance tuning.
Configure and maintain site-to-site VPN and third-party network circuit integrations, including BGP peering with carriers and service providers.
Plan and execute changes to network and firewall infrastructure through a formal change management process, including work during scheduled maintenance windows.
Maintain accurate network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and as-built records as the environment evolves.
Collaborate with the broader Infrastructure, security, and systems teams on cross-functional projects and day-to-day operational needs.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of hands-on experience as a network engineer in an enterprise environment.
Strong Cisco routing and switching, including BGP/OSPF, campus switching, VLANs, and spanning tree.
Experience with Cisco data center switching (Nexus; ACI fabric experience strongly preferred).
Experience administering or supporting Palo Alto Networks firewalls (Panorama-managed environments a plus).
Working knowledge of 802.1X, VPN technologies (site-to-site and remote access), and wireless networking.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently on complex, multi-layer network issues.
Solid documentation habits and the ability to communicate clearly with internal stakeholders.
Work on-site in Colorado Springs, CO on a regular basis and support after-hours maintenance windows as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Cisco certification (CCNP or higher), with data center or enterprise routing/switching focus.
Palo Alto Networks PCNSE certification or equivalent firewall administration experience.
Experience with Cisco ACI Multi-Pod/Multi-Site architecture and Nexus Dashboard Orchestrator (NDO).
Prior experience supporting network infrastructure for a financial institution or other regulated environment.
