Network Security Engineer II

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network Security Engineer II to join a growing Infrastructure and Security team. This role is responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and securing enterprise network security solutions, including firewalls, VPN technologies, remote access platforms, and web application security controls. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting complex network environments, implementing security best practices, and driving continuous improvement across security operations.

Key Responsibilities

<>Firewall Administration & Governance

• Manage enterprise firewall environments and enforce network security policies.
• Perform firewall rule reviews, cleanup initiatives, and remediation activities.
• Conduct regular audits of firewall configurations and access controls.
• Monitor and optimize firewall performance and security posture.

<>Security Standards & Documentation

• Develop, maintain, and update network security standards, procedures, and operational documentation.
• Create and maintain network diagrams, security architecture documentation, and technical runbooks.
• Support compliance and audit initiatives through accurate documentation.

<>VPN & Secure Connectivity Management

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot site-to-site and remote access VPN solutions.
• Support secure connectivity between internal systems, cloud environments, and third-party partners.
• Validate configurations and implement enhancements to improve security and reliability.

<>Web Application Security

• Administer and optimize web application firewall (WAF) solutions.
• Analyze security events and alerts, tune security policies, and expand application coverage.
• Partner with application teams to identify and mitigate web-based threats.

<>Remote Access Support

• Provide advanced support and troubleshooting for secure remote access technologies.
• Monitor remote access environments and recommend improvements to user experience and security controls.

<>Security Operations & Continuous Improvement

• Participate in security assessments, vulnerability remediation efforts, and incident response activities.
• Support infrastructure modernization and security enhancement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, automation, and security effectiveness.

Required Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in network security engineering, network infrastructure, or cybersecurity operations.

• Hands-on experience managing enterprise firewall solutions, VPN technologies, and web application security controls.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, and SSL/TLS.
• Experience supporting remote access solutions and secure connectivity services.
• Knowledge of network security principles, threat mitigation, and access control best practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.

Education & Certifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Preferred

• Industry certifications such as Security+, Network+, CISSP, GSEC, or vendor-specific security certifications.
• Experience supporting cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
• Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture and modern network security frameworks.
