Job Description
A manufacturing and test equipment organization is seeking an Electrical and Mechanical Technician to support the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic test systems in laboratory and manufacturing environments. This is a 6-month contract role based in Austin, Texas with initial training conducted in Allen, Texas. Travel between the United States and Canada will be required for project-related assignments.
This position focuses on keeping electronic test equipment operational through installation, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair activities. The technician will work across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and coolant systems while supporting engineering and manufacturing teams. The role involves hands-on troubleshooting of motion control components, repairing facility and equipment-related hardware issues, documenting work performed, and complying with ESD and workplace safety procedures.

Required Skills & Experience
- 2-year technical degree or 4 years of equivalent hands-on experience and training
- Experience working with electronic test equipment in manufacturing or laboratory settings
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and coolant-related systems
- Hands-on experience using multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, and common hand tools
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, procedures, and mechanical drawings
- Experience diagnosing motors, actuators, and motion control components
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with remote technical support
- Willingness and ability to travel within the United States and Canada
- Ability to perform physical work including lifting and carrying equipment weighing at least 25 pounds
Desired Skills & Experience
- Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline
- Exposure to Linux operating systems
- Basic computer programming experience
