Senior Linux Administrator with Security Clearance

Position Title: Senior Linux Administrator Location: Montgomery, AL Clearance Requirements: None Pay Rate: $60.00/hour

Position Description: Join a dynamic team supporting the Alabama Medicaid Agency as a Senior Linux System Administrator. This on-site contract role offers the opportunity to work with enterprise Linux environments (Red Hat, Ubuntu) across on-premises and Azure cloud infrastructures. You will play a vital role in maintaining, securing, and optimizing Linux workloads, leveraging your expertise with cloud-native tools, automation, and security hardening. The position involves configuring servers, managing CI/CD pipelines, supporting containerized workloads with Docker, and ensuring compliance with healthcare security standards, including HIPAA and CMS requirements. Work independently within a small, collaborative team to deliver impactful solutions in a government healthcare setting.

Note: This is a 12-month contract position based solely in Montgomery, AL. No remote work or visa sponsorship available.

Top Requirements

• 8+ years of enterprise or government Linux System Administration experience
• Expertise with Ubuntu Server LTS and RHEL administration
• Hands-on experience with Azure VMs, networking, Managed Identity, and Azure Key Vault
• Proficiency in Azure DevOps pipelines, repositories, and CI/CD workflows
• Strong background in Docker container management, secrets management, and container security
• Advanced Bash scripting and working knowledge of PowerShell for automation
• Experience with security hardening tools such as UFW, SSH, AppArmor, SSL/TLS, and kernel tuning
• Solid understanding of systemd, PAM, auditd, log rotation, and filesystem management (LVM, XFS, EXT4)
