Job Description
Shadowgate Partners is seeking a Vulnerability Research Engineer 2 for a Client.
Salary: $231,000 per year, plus an additional 25% ($57,751) of your salary in fully and immediately vested employer 401(k) contributions. You will take a leading role in vulnerability research across hardware components, software applications, and operating systems — determining functionality, code structure, and system design in support of access research.
Key Responsibilities • Lead reverse engineering and vulnerability research efforts against hardware, applications, and operating systems.
- Perform source and binary code analysis to discover software flaws, and author the documentation that captures them.
- Debug complex software failures and trace programmatic flow through crashes and unexpected states.
- Build and maintain analysis tooling in Python, C, or C++.
- Present research results to technical audiences and contribute to the team's shared knowledge base. Required Qualifications • Four or more years of programming experience in a production environment using Assembly, C, C#, C++, Perl, or Python.
- Four or more years of demonstrated hardware or software reverse engineering experience.
- Proven experience leading software debugging and crash-triage efforts.
- Strong command of disassemblers, debuggers, and reverse engineering frameworks (IDA Pro, Ghidra,
- Experience authoring and delivering technical presentations on assigned research.
Preferred Qualifications • Vulnerability discovery in embedded systems, firmware, or mobile platforms.
- Experience defeating modern exploit mitigations.
- Kernel-level research on Windows, Linux, or mobile operating systems.
- Development of fuzzing harnesses or automated triage pipelines.
Experience & Education Minimum five years of contiguous experience in computer science, information systems, or network engineering; or a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field plus a minimum of three years of contiguous experience. Clearance Level This position requires an active Top Secret/SCI clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must hold, or be able to reinstate, the required clearance and polygraph prior to start. Clearance eligibility must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
