Description:
Our team is part of the North American Powertrain Engineering (PE) organization. PE is responsible for full development of the driveline for our company's products.

We develop conventional powertrains (combustion engine, transmission, and axles) as well as a growing focus on the development of the next generation powertrains such as electric and fuel cell. We stand in front of a significant challenge to develop transportation solutions with continuous reduction of CO2 emissions with a long-term goal of delivering only fossil free vehicles. In this position you will work as a software integration engineer to accelerate the development of heavy-duty trucks and buses within a powertrain engineering laboratory.

Our technologies include conventional, electric and fuel cell powertrains. This position will work as a team member in the integration of test automation systems and the development of regression test tools using C# as well as development and maintenance of laboratory specific databases. In addition, this role will Support regulatory testing (EPA, CARB) in the Powertrain Engineering Lab for the Heavy Duty Engines.

Key areas include test system control and data acquisition systems which include, but are not limited to engine dynamometers, test cell automation systems, fuel conditioning and measurement systems, as well as emissions and combustion analysis systems. What You Will be Doing
You will be part of the powertrain data engineering organization. Your skills will be utilized to develop software tools for test cell operations, data storage and analysis.

You will provide clear technical documents to specify the back-office tools and automation capabilities as well as initiate and implement cost savings through efficiency and reliability improvements. You will be responsible for:Utilize test automation software to develop test procedures. Support Laboratory databasesIntegrate various smart hardware through multiple communication protocols in the heavy-duty engine dynamometer testing environment. Develop User interfaces for test cell operationsTroubleshoot software/hardware issues that occur in the engine development test cells.

Identify, prioritize, and document those issues using proven methods that result in verified solutions. Write various test scripts in C# to develop tools or applications outside of the test environment to enhance testing procedures and data quality/reductionOperate test equipment, often PC based, such as (Vision, CANalyzer, Kvaser CAN) to implement various testing necessary in the evaluation of the engine's SW/HW performance.

Make use of a manufacture's API to leverage the features of these products to customize tools for use in the PE LAB.Develop and maintain test cell automation protocols for performance or durability-based testingDevelop and maintain SQL databases and user interfaces utilizing ASP.net MVCTechnical interface to the lab services technicians and engineers who establish test plansNetworking, relationship building and collaborating with our user groups and stakeholders, to assure we are on top of their challenges and are solving the most needed requirements first, as well as holding the longtime promises to assure a stable evolution of the Analytics area over time.

You are person with a passion for automation and computer science. You a team player with eagerness to try and develop through collaboration, co-operation, and sharing insights, solutions, and ideas. You thrive in using scripting and control theory to accelerate data drive design, validation and problem solving.

Position Requirements:Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field required; Master's Degree preferred10+ years of related experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degreeFamiliarity with GIT and its command lineProficient in programming languages and communication protocolsData reduction and analysis skillsProblem solving skillsBasic Project Management skillsDiesel Engine understanding, including after-treatment systems is a plus
