Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Newton Aycliffe | £45,000 | Double Days

CV Technical are currently working with a well-established manufacturing business based in Newton Aycliffe who are looking to add an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Engineer to their team.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer looking for a stable role within a modern manufacturing environment, working a double-day shift pattern with no permanent nights.

The Role

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for keeping production machinery and site equipment running efficiently, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance across the site.

You will be involved in:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)

  • Responding to breakdowns and fault finding

  • Mechanical and electrical maintenance of production machinery

  • Diagnosing faults and getting equipment back up and running

  • Working on motors, sensors, drives, conveyors, pneumatics and hydraulics

  • Supporting machinery installations and improvements

  • Identifying recurring faults and helping improve equipment reliability

  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records

  • Working closely with production to minimise downtime

  • Following all relevant Health & Safety procedures

The Person

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing environment and be comfortable working across both mechanical and electrical systems.

You should have:

  • Previous industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience

  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills

  • Experience with planned and reactive maintenance

  • A recognised engineering qualification/apprenticeship is desirable

  • Experience with PLCs, drives, pneumatics and hydraulics would be advantageous

  • A proactive approach to breakdowns and preventative maintenance

  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team
