Job description

Take ownership of electrical engineering projects from initial concept through to design, delivery, commissioning and operational handover.

Are you an experienced Electrical Project Engineer, Senior Electrical Engineer or Electrical Design Engineer looking for greater technical responsibility, project ownership and career progression?

RecruitME is recruiting for an established engineering and energy business delivering technically challenging projects across power generation, renewable energy, HV/LV electrical systems and industrial infrastructure.

This isn't a purely office-based electrical design position. You'll combine technical engineering with hands-on project delivery, site involvement, commissioning and client engagement.

And you don't need to be the finished article.

If you're an ambitious Electrical Project Engineer with strong technical foundations and the ability to manage projects, this could be your opportunity to progress into a more senior position.

The Role

In the position of Senior Electrical Project Engineer, you'll hold the technical reins for electrical engineering projects throughout their entire lifecycle.

Your involvement will span feasibility studies, design, development, procurement assistance, on-site delivery, installation, testing, commissioning, and operational handover.

Guiding electrical engineering projects from initial idea to final execution

Crafting and evaluating electrical designs, specifications, and technical documents

Engaging with both high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical systems

Supporting initiatives in power generation, grid connectivity, and electrical infrastructure

Offering technical insights into electrical distribution, power systems, and process control

Aiding in project planning, engineering coordination, and execution activities

Working with SCADA, control systems, and related electrical equipment

Supervising installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting

Communicating with clients, suppliers, contractors, and project stakeholders

Resolving technical issues and devising practical engineering solutions

Ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and efficiently

You'll get the chance to witness the impact of your engineering choices, rather than passing designs off to another team.

Who We're Seeking

We're keen to connect with seasoned Electrical Project Engineers, Senior Electrical Engineers, Power Systems Engineers, and Electrical Design Engineers eager to lead diverse technical projects.

Required Experience:

Extensive electrical engineering background in power generation, renewable energy, utilities, industrial engineering, EPC, electrical consulting, or infrastructure

Hands-on expertise in HV/LV electrical systems, electrical design, or power distribution

Proven track record in contributing to electrical projects through design, execution, installation, or commissioning

Skill in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents

Proficiency in resolving engineering challenges and making informed technical choices

Excellent communication abilities when interacting with clients, contractors, and engineering teams

Readiness to travel frequently to project sites throughout the UK

Experience That Sets You Apart:

Power generation connected to the grid or grid integration

HV/LV electrical distribution and power systems expertise

Experience in electrical testing and commissioning

Knowledge of SCADA, PLCs, or industrial process control

Familiarity with BESS, Energy from Waste, anaerobic digestion, or other renewable technologies

Managing electrical engineering projects from inception to completion

A degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field

Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration

Not Chartered? That's okay.

We're equally enthusiastic about Electrical Project Engineers with solid technical skills and a drive to advance. You'll have access to professional growth opportunities and support on the path to Chartered Engineer status.

  • Salary up to £65,000 depending on experience, plus a £4,000 annual car allowance.
  • Home-based working with the flexibility of managing your workload around UK project commitments.
  • Complete project ownership, taking electrical engineering projects from initial concept and design through to installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Exciting engineering projects across renewable energy, power generation, HV/LV infrastructure, battery energy storage and emerging energy technologies.
  • Genuine autonomy and responsibility, with the freedom to make technical decisions and take ownership of project delivery.
  • Career development and progression, including support towards Chartered Engineer status and opportunities to develop your technical and project management expertise.
  • A varied, hands-on engineering role combining design, site involvement, technical problem-solving and commissioning rather than being confined to a desk.
  • A long-term opportunity in the energy sector, contributing to projects supporting the UK's evolving energy infrastructure.

Why Consider This Role?

This is an opportunity to move beyond a narrow electrical design or project delivery remit and become involved in the full engineering lifecycle.

You'll be trusted to take responsibility, make technical decisions, engage directly with customers and contribute to the delivery of important UK power generation and renewable energy infrastructure.

Whether you're already operating at senior level or an experienced Electrical Project Engineer ready for greater responsibility, this position offers genuine scope to develop.
