Job Description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Data Center Lead to support a secure government technology environment in San Diego, CA. This is a hands-on, onsite contract position through March 2027, supporting major infrastructure consolidation and modernization efforts with the possibiltiy to extend. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary onsite resource for the Data Center Manager, coordinating daily priorities, leading physical installation activities, and working closely with engineering teams to ensure equipment is deployed, relocated, and decommissioned properly. Responsibilities for the Data Center Lead Include:

  • Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for the Data Center Manager, coordinating priorities and communicating project status.
  • Perform rack and stack activities for network, server, and lab equipment.
  • Install, move, cable, label, and physically connect infrastructure components using cable matrices and deployment documentation.
  • Decommission and remove obsolete equipment to support data center consolidation and modernization initiatives.
  • Partner with network and systems engineers to ensure equipment is installed correctly and ready for configuration.
  • Support ongoing data center operations, equipment inventory, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot basic hardware, connectivity, and physical layer issues within the lab environment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and provide updates on project progress and operational activities. Required Qualifications for the Data Center Lead Include:
  • 3+ years of experience supporting data center, network infrastructure, or lab environments.
  • Hands-on experience with rack and stack operations, cabling, hardware installations, and equipment moves.
  • Experience working with Cisco, Juniper, servers, or other enterprise infrastructure technologies.
  • IAT Level II Certification (Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, etc.).
  • Active Secret Clearance. M1 #L Compensation for the Data Center Lead Includes:
  • Salary Range: $75,000 - $82,000 (depending on experience)
