Job Summary:

Position Title: Heavy equipment Mechanic Helper
Location: City of Miami, FL,33142
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Duration: 1 year

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Servicing and changing oil in a variety of heavy equipment, including trucks, pay-loaders, bulldozers and cranes; performing minor repairs and replacement work, adjusting points, cleaning and replacing spark plugs.
  • Assisting Heavy Equipment Mechanics in lowering or lifting heavy parts in removing or installing automotive equipment; removing defective parts, such as starters, generators, water pumps, and radiators.
  • Cleaning and changing filters on construction and maintenance equipment.
  • Checking compressors, radiators and radiator hoses.
  • Performing general service on all types of heavy-duty equipment; dismantling equipment for repairs; giving semiskilled mechanical assistance in all areas of automotive repair.
  • Changing tires and repairing flats on a variety of heavy automotive equipment; may operate fuel delivery trucks and delivers gasoline, diesel fuel and/or miscellaneous lubricants to various city facilities.
  • Operating service truck to make minor repairs to heavy equipment and to change or add tires, batteries and gasoline.
  • Assisting in removing engines and other assemblies and dismantling for overhaul or replacement; assisting in automotive bodywork and preparing equipment for painting.
  • Greasing and lubricating bulldozers, cranes trucks, street sweepers, and other heavy equipment; performing other related work as required.
To be considered for this position, you should have:

Minimum Requirements
  • High School diploma or its equivalent and some (6 months – 2 years) experience in semiskilled work in automotive repair and maintenance at a garage.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent and some (6 months – 2 years) of the required experience.
