Job Description

Global KYC Manager

Team description

SumUp's Global AML team keeps our KYC and screening framework fit for a business that serves millions of small merchants across dozens of markets, translating fast moving regulatory change into practical controls the rest of the company can build on. This role sits at the centre of that work: owning the PEP and sanctions screening framework, shaping customer risk scoring models, and setting direction for KYC strategy as SumUp's product range and regulatory footprint keep growing. Partnering closely with AML Operations, Onboarding, and product teams, it's a chance to shape how a global fintech manages financial crime risk at scale.

What you'll do

  • Identify and streamline KYC and enhanced due diligence requirements for regulated products across global markets
  • Own and continuously improve the PEP and sanctions screening framework, including its tools and controls
  • Develop and maintain customer risk scoring models and methodologies
  • Lead KYC strategy and remediation work arising from internal and external reviews, regulatory developments and significant case escalations
  • Partner with AML Operations and Onboarding teams to turn regulatory requirements into scalable processes and controls
  • Provide regulatory expertise and judgement on complex KYC and AML matters, finding solutions that support business growth while maintaining compliance

You'll be great for this role if…

  • Proven experience as a KYC manager in fintech, payments, e-money or banking, including leading teams through regulatory change
  • Deep knowledge of AML/CTF regulations and law enforcement reporting frameworks, including PEP and sanctions screening
  • Experience building and managing screening frameworks alongside customer risk scoring models
  • Strong judgement in balancing commercial priorities with regulatory obligations, paired with confidence engaging regulators and senior leadership
  • Comfort working across payments, merchant acquiring and small business risk profiles in multiple markets
