Job Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Full Stack Java Engineer to design, develop, test, and support enterprise applications across backend services and modern React-based user interfaces.
The ideal candidate will have strong Java and Spring Boot expertise, practical React/TypeScript experience, hands-on UI and end-to-end test automation skills, and experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
This role requires strong technical problem-solving abilities, sound software engineering fundamentals, and the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional Agile teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack features using Java, Spring Boot microservices, React, and TypeScript.
  • Build and enhance modern frontend applications using micro-frontend architecture patterns.
  • Develop and maintain automated UI and end-to-end tests using Playwright and Cypress.
  • Improve regression test coverage and contribute toward established automated testing targets.
  • Leverage GitHub Copilot and AI-assisted development tools for code generation, test creation, and code review.
  • Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, coding, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Build scalable, maintainable, and high-performing backend services and frontend applications.
  • Implement unit, integration, functional, and regression testing strategies.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, business partners, and supervisory stakeholders to deliver business-critical capabilities.
  • Support application performance testing, production troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on server-side Java development experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Java 17/21 and Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
  • Proven experience developing frontend applications using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and HTML5.
  • Experience designing and developing REST APIs and microservices-based applications.
  • Hands-on test automation experience with Playwright and/or Cypress.
  • Experience with GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools in a professional environment.
  • Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL, and relational database concepts.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, Java multithreading, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Experience with Git, Jenkins, Gradle, and Agile software development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with development environments such as IntelliJ IDEA and Visual Studio Code.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in New York City three days per week.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in fixed-income or equities trading platforms.
  • Exposure to supervisory, compliance, or surveillance applications.
  • Knowledge of Kafka, Redis, or Node.js 20+.
  • Experience with Tableau, LaunchDarkly feature flagging, or Camunda/BPMN workflows.
  • Familiarity with micro-frontend architecture and enterprise application rollout strategies.
