Job/Role Description:

  • This role will manage, optimize, support, and expand an enterprise Imperva Database Activity Monitoring (DAM) platform across critical database environments.
  • This position will focus on ensuring 100% database monitoring coverage, maintaining the operational health of the DAM environment, automating routine operational tasks, and refining database security baselines.
  • Manage daily operations, troubleshooting, configuration, and maintenance of the Imperva DAM/SecureSphere environment.
  • Serve as a primary technical point of contact for Imperva vendor escalations, support tickets, platform issues, upgrades, and bug fixes.
  • Partner with platform Database Administrators (DBAs) to continuously reconcile database inventories against DAM coverage and identify monitoring gaps or blind spots.
  • Ensure targeted Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), IBM DB2, Oracle, and Teradata database environments are actively monitored and continuously recording database activity.
  • Monitor platform telemetry to identify health anomalies, agent outages, logging drops, monitoring failures, and other operational issues.
  • Review database security policies and established security baselines to identify policy drift, inconsistencies, and potential security gaps across the enterprise database environment.
  • Recommend and implement appropriate policy and rule adjustments to align database monitoring with enterprise security standards and established security practices.
  • Review database activity and logging to identify anomalies or potentially suspicious behavior requiring additional investigation or escalation.
  • Script and automate daily health checks, monitoring verification, reporting, and other operational workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual platform maintenance.
  • Utilize Python, PowerShell, Bash, REST APIs, or similar technologies to automate database security monitoring and operational activities.
  • Partner with offshore resources and other technical teams to facilitate operational changes while maintaining accountability for the accuracy and effectiveness of those changes.
  • Follow established change management processes and ensure appropriate approvals and sign-offs are obtained before implementing changes within the environment.
  • Participate in troubleshooting efforts involving enterprise database performance to determine whether database monitoring tools or processes are contributing to performance issues.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, data protection, identity, database, infrastructure, vendor, and other technical teams to maintain effective database security monitoring.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer with existing subject matter experts and assume increasing ownership of the Database Activity Monitoring environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Direct, hands-on experience administering, engineering, configuring, and troubleshooting Imperva Database Activity Monitoring (DAM/SecureSphere).
  • Strong database administration or database engineering background with deep foundational knowledge of enterprise database architectures, querying, logging mechanisms, and system catalogs.
  • Experience working across multiple enterprise database platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), IBM DB2, Oracle, and Teradata.
  • Strong understanding of Database Activity Monitoring concepts, database security monitoring, database auditing, and database logging.
  • Experience monitoring and maintaining the operational health of enterprise database security or monitoring platforms.
  • Experience identifying and resolving monitoring gaps, agent outages, logging failures, policy drift, and security baseline inconsistencies.
  • Familiarity with database auditing principles, security baseline governance, policy drift resolution, and threat/anomaly detection.
  • Demonstrated scripting and automation experience using Python, PowerShell, Bash, REST APIs, or similar technologies.
  • Experience automating operational tasks such as health checks, monitoring verification, reporting, or platform maintenance workflows.
  • Experience working directly with technology vendors to troubleshoot complex platform issues, manage support escalations, perform upgrades, and resolve product defects or bugs.
  • Experience working within formal change management processes and controlled or highly audited enterprise environments.
  • Strong cybersecurity mindset with the ability to identify database security gaps and recommend improvements to monitoring policies and security controls.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain consistent security policies and monitoring coverage across complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience collaborating with DBAs, cybersecurity teams, vendors, offshore resources, and other technical stakeholders.
