Job Description

The Opportunity

We are working with a rapidly growing, forward-thinking organisation investing heavily in its EV charging and installation capabilities.

This is an opportunity for an experienced EV Charging Operations Manager to take a key role in developing and scaling an EV installation operation.

Youll combine your electrical and EV charging knowledge with strong people and operational management skills, helping to develop installation processes, manage technical standards and support the business in achieving the accreditations required to grow its EV offering.

This isnt a role where everything has already been built for you.

Were looking for somebody who enjoys creating structure, developing new ways of working and getting involved in the detail when needed.

What Youll Be Doing
  • Take ownership of key areas of the EV charging installation operation.
  • Help develop and implement new EV installation workstreams, processes and workflows.
  • Support the development and management of a network of EV charger installers.
  • Oversee installation quality, compliance and technical standards.
  • Work with key stakeholders towards NICEIC accreditation.
  • Support applications and requirements relating to OZEV and MCS.
  • Coach, train and support installers and wider team members.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
  • As the operation expands, help develop a structure of regional and lead installers.

What Were Looking For

The successful candidate will have a strong electrical background combined with genuine management experience.

Essential
  • Level 3 electrical qualification.
  • AM2 qualification.
  • Recognised EV charging qualification.
  • Previous management or leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of electrical installations and EV charging.
  • Experience managing technical teams, electricians, installers or contractors.
  • Comfortable working within a rapidly growing environment where processes are still developing.
  • Able to commute to the Dunstable / Luton area.

Highly Desirable
  • Previous experience within the EV charging industry.
  • Experience working for a major energy, utilities, electrical installation or EV infrastructure organisation.
  • Knowledge of NICEIC, OZEV and/or MCS requirements.
  • Experience within solar, photovoltaic or wider renewable energy installations.
  • Experience managing installer or subcontractor networks.

The Person

Technical capability is important, but personality will be equally important for this hire.

Were looking for somebody who is:

  • Hands-on and willing to get involved.
  • Collaborative and low ego.
  • Comfortable taking ownership.
  • Able to operate effectively without needing every process to already be established.
  • Motivated by building something and having a genuine impact.
  • Commercially aware while maintaining high technical and compliance standards.
  • Comfortable working at pace in a growing operation.

This would particularly suit somebody who has worked within a larger electrical, energy or EV organisation but now wants the opportunity to have greater ownership over how an operation is built and developed.

Package
  • £52,500 basic salary

  • Annual performance bonus of up to £4,375

  • £12 daily meal allowance

  • Mobile phone allowance of up to £30 per month

  • Private healthcare with Vitality

  • Significant opportunity for progression as the EV installation operation grows

Why Apply?

This is more than a traditional EV Project Manager position.

Youll have the opportunity to help shape an evolving EV charging operation, develop processes and technical standards, support the business through key industry accreditations and ultimately help build the team and installer structure around you.

For somebody who enjoys combining EV technology, electrical expertise, people management and operational improvement, it offers the chance to make a visible impact from day one.
