Job Description

Trade Business Development Manager - Sydney, Newcastle & Canberra

Type of position: Full Time

Department: Trade & Commercial

Location: Sydney, NSW, AU

Date Posted: 31 July 2026

Own your region. Build relationships that last. Drive trade growth across Sydney, Newcastle and Canberra for one of Australia's most iconic furniture brands.

The King Difference

This is not just a relationship management role with a BDM title.

This is a commercial role with genuine accountability - and the autonomy to match. Based in Sydney, you will own a defined portfolio of high-value trade partners across a territory that spans Sydney, Newcastle and Canberra, requiring regular travel to both.

Each market brings its own character - Sydney's depth of A+D activity, Newcastle's growing residential development pipeline, and Canberra's distinctive commercial and government-adjacent design environment - and you will need the commercial instinct to prioritise and perform across all three.

You will work closely with showroom teams across the region to embed trade as a core capability, coach and influence internal teams, and build the kind of partner relationships that compound over time. You are measured on outcomes - portfolio growth, conversion, partner depth, and execution quality.

If you are a commercially sharp trade professional who is ready to own a multi-market region and build something - this is the platform.

What You Will Own Your Trade Portfolio

Manage and grow a defined portfolio of high-value trade partners across Sydney, Newcastle and Canberra - prioritising the right opportunities, managing pipeline with discipline, and driving sustainable residential trade growth.

Showroom Integration

Work closely with showroom teams across the region to strengthen trade capability - coaching on trade selling, specification-led conversations, and ensuring consistent follow-up and accountability.

Partner Relationships

Be the go-to contact for key trade partners throughout the project lifecycle - managing escalations, resolving issues, and protecting long-term relationship confidence.

Trade Events & Market Presence

Lead the commercial outcomes of trade events, activations, and roadshows across your region - representing King Living credibly across the Sydney, Newcastle and Canberra design and trade communities.

Reporting & Onboarding

Keep CRM records accurate and pipeline data meaningful. Lead structured onboarding for new trade partners and uphold King Trade program standards across the portfolio.

Who You Are

You will likely come from a trade sales, BDM, or account management role within furniture, interiors, architecture and design, or a related premium industry. Existing relationships within the Sydney, Newcastle or Canberra A+D and development communities will be a significant advantage. What matters most is your commercial track record, your ability to manage a multi-market territory with discipline, and the trust you build with partners over time.

You are a commercially sharp trade professional who is ready for a role that holds you to a high standard and rewards you for it.

  • Proven experience in trade sales or business development, ideally within furniture, interiors, or the A+D industry
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and grow a defined customer portfolio with full commercial accountability
  • Strong commercial judgement - you prioritise partners, time, and opportunities with discipline
  • Data-literate and confident using CRM, PowerBI, and reporting tools to manage performance
  • Able to coach, influence, and hold internal teams accountable in a collaborative and constructive manner
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable operating across multiple markets simultaneously while maintaining structure and discipline
  • Based in Sydney with a valid driver's licence - this role requires regular travel to Newcastle and Canberra
