About the Role

The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the business, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with company policies and UK accounting requirements.

This role requires regular collaboration with Mandarin-speaking colleagues and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and record financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) activities, including invoice processing, payment tracking, and customer collections.
  • Perform bank, supplier, customer, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and other month-end adjustments.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
  • Review and process employee expense claims in accordance with company policies.
  • Support cash flow monitoring and treasury-related activities.
  • Assist with VAT returns and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies when required.
  • Maintain accurate and organised accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
  • Provide ad hoc financial and administrative support as required.

Qualifications & ExperienceEssential

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 1 years of experience in accounting, finance.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Experience using accounting software or ERP systems (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and English (written and spoken).

Preferred

  • AAT qualified or currently studying towards ACCA, ACA, or CIMA.
  • Experience in international business environments.
  • Knowledge of UK VAT regulations and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with multi-currency transactions and intercompany accounting.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or other financial reporting tools.

Salary Range

£28,000 - £32,000 per annum
