Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Payments Business Analyst with 9–12 years of experience in the payments domain. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Cross-Border Wires, ACH, Real-Time Payments, ISO 20022, SWIFT, and Wire payment formats, with proven experience in business analysis, impact assessment, requirements management, and working closely with business, development, and testing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze different payment standards, formats, and regulatory requirements and assess their potential impact on client-facing products and systems.
- Provide subject matter expertise across payment products including:
- Cross-Border Wires
- ACH
- Real-Time Payments (RTP)
- Domestic and international payment processing
- Demonstrate in-depth understanding of ISO 20022 payment messages, including payment initiation, clearing, settlement, and reporting messages.
- Work extensively with SWIFT messaging and wire payment formats and understand their mapping to internal and external systems.
- Analyze business requirements and map user stories to delivery scope, business value, and functional outcomes.
- Perform detailed analysis of user stories and identify dependencies, gaps, assumptions, and downstream impacts.
- Collaborate with partner systems and stakeholders to establish agreement on:
- Data and message mapping documents
- Interface requirements
- Communication protocols
- Payment processing flows
- Conduct high-level and detailed impact assessments to determine affected applications, interfaces, processes, and client experiences.
- Prepare impact assessments that support effort estimation, work-package planning, and delivery prioritization.
- Work closely with Business, Product, Development, QA, and Testing teams throughout the SDLC.
- Conduct user-story walkthroughs with Business stakeholders and ensure requirements are clearly understood.
- Explain and elaborate user stories, functional requirements, payment flows, and business rules to Development and Testing teams.
- Support Development and Testing teams during implementation and validation.
- Review test cases to ensure adequate coverage of business requirements, payment scenarios, message formats, and exception conditions.
- Organize and facilitate user story walkthrough and requirement review sessions with Business stakeholders.
- Maintain and manage the user story backlog, ensuring requirements are clearly defined, prioritized, and ready for development.
- Identify business and system dependencies, risks, gaps, and potential client impacts.
- Drive resolution of requirements-related issues and act as a bridge between Business, Technology, Development, and Testing teams.
- Provide recommendations and make decisions based on detailed analysis of business and technical impacts.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 9–12 years of experience in Business Analysis, Payments, Banking, or Financial Services.
- Strong hands-on/domain knowledge of payment products and payment processing.
- Strong expertise in:
- Cross-Border Payments / Wires
- ACH
- Real-Time Payments
- ISO 20022
- SWIFT
- Wire Transfer formats
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 20022 payment message structures and mappings.
- Experience analyzing payment message mappings and integration requirements across multiple systems.
- Strong understanding of business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog management.
- Experience performing impact assessments and dependency analysis.
- Experience working with Development and QA/Test teams in Agile/SDLC environments.
- Strong experience in test case review and requirements traceability.
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with Business, Product, Technology, Development, QA, and external/partner-system teams.
Preferred Profile
Senior Payments Business Analyst / Payments SME with strong ISO 20022 + SWIFT + Cross-Border Wires + ACH + Real-Time Payments experience, capable of translating business requirements into actionable user stories and guiding teams through analysis, development, testing, and delivery.
