Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking for a new opportunity? Do you have a strong mechanical design background and enjoy developing practical, manufacturable products?
We are working with a specialist engineering business in Stevenage who are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This is a predominantly design-focused position, working across both mechanical and electrical considerations and taking ownership of product development and improvements.

Salary: £45,000–£55,000

Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

• Design panels, enclosures, brackets, fixings and sheet-metal components.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings.
• Develop new designs from concept through to manufacture.
• Work closely with electrical engineers to accommodate switches, wiring, controls and electrical components.
• Review existing products and implement design improvements.
• Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective and suitable for manufacture and assembly.
• Support bespoke and customer-specific design requirements.
• Liaise with manufacturing, suppliers and customers on technical and design queries.
• Take ownership of projects and contribute to the continued development of the company's product range.

Mechanical Design Engineer

• 5+ years' experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
• Strong design-focused background with experience taking products from concept through to manufacture.
• Experience with electrical/mechanical products, enclosures or panels would be advantageous.
• Experience designing lighting control panels would be highly beneficial.
• Strong 3D CAD and engineering drawing skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong communicator who can work effectively with electrical and manufacturing teams.
• Comfortable working across both mechanical and electrical considerations.
• Able to take ownership of projects and work with a high level of autonomy.
