Design Engineer

Hays Engineering is working with a well-established engineering manufacturer based in Omagh to recruit an experienced R&D Engineer. Our client designs and manufactures heavy-duty equipment for international markets, with a strong reputation for engineering robust machinery and continually developing its product range. The business operates within the crushing, screening and materials-handling sector and has continued to introduce new products to its portfolio. Due to continued investment in New Product Development, they are now looking to strengthen their engineering team with an R&D Engineer who can help develop the next generation of products. Your new role Working as part of the R&D and Engineering team, you will have a key role in taking new products from initial concept through design, development, testing and introduction into is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys genuine product development rather than simply modifying existing designs. Your responsibilities will include: Designing and developing new machinery and product concepts Taking projects through the full New Product Development lifecycle Creating detailed 3D designs, assemblies and engineering drawings Developing innovative solutions to improve performance, reliability and manufacturability Producing prototypes and supporting product testing and validation Reviewing test results and implementing design improvements Working closely with manufacturing to ensure successful New Product Introduction Collaborating with sales, engineering and end users to identify opportunities for future product development, reflecting the company's established approach to R&D. Providing technical input throughout development and production Supporting continuous improvement across the existing product range What you'll need to succeed A degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related discipline Previous experience within Design Engineering, R&D or New Product Development Strong 3D CAD capability Experience designing mechanical systems, machinery or fabricated products Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication and design for manufacture Experience taking designs from concept through prototype, testing and production Strong problem-solving and practical engineering skills What you'll get in return Work on genuine new product development projects See your designs progress from concept to completed machinery Develop your technical and commercial engineering knowledge Work with experienced Design and R&D professionals Build a long-term career within an innovative engineering environment What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.
