Role Overview

As a Software Engineering Manager, you'll lead a high-performing team of Software Engineers, combining strong technical leadership with people leadership to deliver scalable, secure and customer-focused solutions. You'll build team capability, drive engineering excellence and help deliver strategic outcomes that support ABB's continued growth. Providing technical leadership and direction, ensuring solutions align with business objectives, architecture standards, security requirements and engineering best practices. Building a high-performing, accountable and collaborative engineering culture that encourages innovation, continuous improvement and team engagement. Leading the design, development and delivery of scalable solutions across customer-facing applications, digital services and internal platforms. Driving engineering excellence through effective development practices including code reviews, testing, quality assurance and CI/CD. Identifying automation and optimisation opportunities that improve efficiency and enable teams to focus on delivering greater value. Coaching, mentoring and developing engineers through regular feedback, career development and performance conversations. Partnering with stakeholders across Technology and the broader business to shape solutions and drive successful delivery outcomes. Leading the resolution of complex technical, scalability, performance and architectural challenges. Supporting and contributing to ABB's broader replatforming initiatives and technology transformation programs.

Responsibilities and Requirements

You'll bring Experience delivering commercial software solutions using modern frameworks and contemporary software engineering practices. Proven success leading and developing Software Engineers within a high-performing team environment. Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to align technical solutions with business outcomes. Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability with experience resolving complex technical challenges. Strong understanding of modern web technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and responsive application development principles. Expertise in database design, schema architecture, performance tuning and query optimisation. Experience designing, building and integrating APIs and distributed services. A track record of delivering scalable, secure and maintainable software solutions in complex environments. Experience integrating enterprise applications with third-party platforms and external services. Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices and automated deployment frameworks. Experience supporting or leading platform modernisation, transformation or replatforming initiatives. Experience leading and working with distributed or remote teams.
