Job description
Overview
Join Gallagher’s Marine team and play a key role in supporting clients through the claims process, from first notification through to final settlement. Working within our specialist Cargo Claims team, you’ll advocate for a diverse range of clients across the UK and globally, helping them navigate complex marine and cargo claims while delivering outstanding service.
This is an opportunity to build your career within a collaborative and knowledgeable team where learning, mentorship and professional growth are part of everyday life. You'll work alongside experienced colleagues across a team of marine professionals, including a dedicated cargo claims team, giving you exposure to a wide range of claims, clients, and market relationships.
At Gallagher, we are innovative thinkers and service-minded individuals who come together to deliver exceptional outcomes for clients while supporting one another’s growth and development. Our culture encourages curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning, creating opportunities to build your expertise and shape your career.
How you'll make an impact
As a Marine Claims Executive, you'll manage cargo and marine claims from initial notification through to settlement. You'll act as an advocate for clients, helping them understand policy coverage, claims processes and potential outcomes while working closely with insurers, loss adjusters, surveyors, and other stakeholders. Every claim is different, so you'll balance technical understanding with clear communication, helping clients make informed decisions and supporting them through challenging situations.
You'll become an active member of a close-knit claims team, contributing to discussions, sharing insight, and collaborating with colleagues to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients. Along the way, you'll develop your technical knowledge of marine and cargo claims while building relationships across Gallagher's wider Marine practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing marine and cargo claims from first notification through to settlement
- Explaining policy coverage and claims processes to clients in clear, practical terms
- Supporting claims mitigation activities and helping clients understand available options
- Liaising with insurers, adjusters, surveyors, and legal representatives
- Maintaining accurate claims records and documentation
- Building trusted relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
- Supporting the wider Marine team on client service and claims-related activity
About You
Here's what you'll bring to the role:
- Experience handling insurance claims within a broker, insurer, or related environment
- Understanding of marine insurance and the fundamentals of cargo risks and cargo claims
- Ability to explain technical information clearly to clients and colleagues
- Experience managing multiple claims and priorities while maintaining attention to detail
- Confidence communicating with a variety of stakeholders by phone, email and in meetings
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
- Experience presenting information, updates or recommendations to clients or colleagues is beneficial
- Interest in developing your technical knowledge within marine and cargo claims
