Job Description

<>Principal Technical Product Manager Data Center Liquid Cooling & Thermal Management

Location: San Jose, CA
Work Model: 100% Onsite
Employment Type: Full-Time
Industry: Data Center / AI Infrastructure / Thermal Management

About the Role

We are seeking a highly technical Senior/Principal Product Manager Data Center Liquid Cooling & Thermal Management to lead product definition, technology roadmaps, requirements, and development for next-generation thermal solutions supporting high-density AI and GPU data center infrastructure.

This is not a Product Marketing role. The ideal candidate combines significant hands-on technical expertise in thermal engineering and liquid cooling with proven Product Management experience. You will work closely with engineering, customers, suppliers, and executive leadership to identify thermal challenges, translate customer and system requirements into product requirements, define what should be built, and drive products from concept through development and production.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in direct-to-chip liquid cooling, cold plates, coolant distribution units, rack-level cooling architectures, thermal management, and high-density AI/GPU infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own product definition, requirements, and technology roadmaps for next-generation liquid-cooling and thermal-management solutions.
  • Translate customer, system, and market requirements into clear technical product requirements and development priorities.
  • Partner closely with thermal, mechanical, electrical, systems, manufacturing, and reliability engineering teams to define and develop products.
  • Drive product development from early concepts and architecture through validation, NPI, production, and deployment.
  • Evaluate and define cooling architectures for high-density AI/GPU compute platforms and data center infrastructure.
  • Work directly with customers and technical stakeholders to understand thermal challenges, performance requirements, deployment constraints, and future infrastructure needs.
  • Develop product roadmaps based on customer requirements, technology capabilities, competitive landscape, and business priorities.
  • Make technical tradeoffs involving thermal performance, pressure drop, flow rate, reliability, manufacturability, cost, serviceability, and system integration.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, OEMs, ODMs, data center operators, and technology partners on product development and qualification.
  • Support technical reviews, validation strategies, qualification, root-cause analysis, and product readiness.
  • Communicate product strategy, requirements, technical risks, development status, and roadmap priorities to executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Help identify emerging thermal technologies and determine how they can be incorporated into future product generations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in thermal engineering, cooling systems, thermal management, or related hardware technologies.
  • Significant hands-on technical expertise in liquid cooling and thermal engineering.
  • Proven Product Management experience with ownership of product requirements, product definition, roadmaps, or product development.
  • Deep understanding of one or more of the following:
    • Direct-to-Chip (D2C) liquid cooling
    • Cold plates / microchannel cold plates
    • Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs)
    • Liquid manifolds / fluid distribution
    • Liquid-to-liquid cooling
    • Two-phase / multiphase cooling
    • Rack-level thermal architectures
    • Thermal management for high-density computing
  • Experience with AI/GPU servers, data center infrastructure, HPC, or high-density compute environments.
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, thermal resistance, pressure drop, flow, and cooling-system performance.
  • Experience translating customer/system requirements into technical product requirements.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, design, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.
  • Strong technical communication and stakeholder-management skills.
