Job Description

The Role

The Senior Manager, Business & External Data Reporting is responsible for leading APRA's enterprise business reporting and external data dissemination functions. The role ensures that high-quality, trusted and timely data products support decision-making across APRA and meet external reporting obligations.

The position provides strategic leadership across internal reporting, external publications, reporting standards, data product management, stakeholder engagement and reporting service delivery. The role works closely with Data Collection Design and Management, Data Governance, Enterprise Data Services and business divisions to ensure reporting solutions are aligned to enterprise data strategy, regulatory requirements and user needs.

The team

The role is a member of the APRA DTS Data Leadership Team reporting to the Chief Data Officer. The Technology and Data Division supports APRA with frameworks, technology and systems that support APRA's data and technology operations and its mandate to help protect the Australian community through data enabled decision making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead APRA's enterprise reporting services, including setting strategy, service standards, performance measures, roadmaps, operations and production schedules.
  • Ensure reporting products are accurate, timely, trusted and aligned to business needs, supporting effective decision-making across APRA.
  • Lead the development of enterprise dashboards, management reporting and self-service reporting capabilities, improving access to usable data through modern tools and use of AI
  • Oversee APRA's external reporting products, publications, statistical releases and CDO managed data sharing, ensuring strong governance, quality assurance and compliance with legislative, policy and regulatory obligations.
  • Manage relationships with key external stakeholders and data consumers.
  • Act as business owner for enterprise reporting products and services, defining requirements, priorities and outcomes.
  • Partner with technology and data teams to improve reporting platforms, drive adoption and realise benefits from reporting solutions.
  • Build strong relationships across supervision, policy, risk, technology and corporate functions, translating business needs into reporting solutions and prioritised work programs.
  • Represent the Data Branch on enterprise reporting initiatives and act as a trusted advisor on reporting strategy and data use.
  • Establish controls that support data quality, reporting integrity and compliance with APRA policies, standards and governance frameworks.
  • Manage operational and delivery risks while driving continuous improvement and automation opportunities.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering collaboration, innovation, customer focus and strong reporting, analytics and data visualisation capability.

  • Extensive leadership experience in data reporting, analytics, business intelligence or information management.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data management and reporting frameworks.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and large-scale reporting functions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering reporting products in complex organisations.
  • Strong governance, risk and quality management capability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
