Role: Digital Manufacturing Engineer

<>Location: Remote – US
Duration: 12 Months

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Digital Manufacturing Engineer to develop scalable, web-based manufacturing applications using the Ignition platform for complex discrete manufacturing environments. The role combines SCADA/OT data integration, industrial data management, and modern software development to improve manufacturing visibility and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop responsive industrial applications using Ignition Perspective, Python, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML5.

  • Customize standard components and build modular, reusable, and maintainable application architectures.

  • Integrate plant-floor equipment and control systems using OPC, Kepware, industrial tags, and historians such as Canary.

  • Configure and troubleshoot real-time and historical data collection and connectivity.

  • Integrate applications with SQL databases, SAP, SharePoint, Active Directory, REST APIs, and enterprise systems.

  • Design efficient data models, SQL queries, dashboards, and visualizations for manufacturing operations.

  • Collaborate with operators, maintenance trades, engineers, IT teams, supervisors, and managers to understand workflows and gather data requirements.

  • Translate manufacturing challenges into intuitive digital solutions while building strong customer relationships.

  • Implement error handling, logging, diagnostics, security, performance optimization, and reliability measures.

  • Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and integration specifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong skills in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, responsive UI development, and Python scripting.

  • Solid experience with SQL databases, relational data modeling, and REST API integrations.

  • Hands-on experience with SCADA/HMI platforms, industrial data systems, OPC connectivity, tags, and historians.

  • Ability to understand manufacturing equipment, production workflows, and real-time operational requirements.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work independently in manufacturing environments and convert loosely defined requirements into practical applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with Ignition Perspective, Kepware, and Canary.

  • Knowledge of discrete manufacturing environments, including aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding, defense, or heavy industry.

  • Experience integrating SAP and working with cloud or hybrid architectures, including AWS Industrial Solutions Framework.

Note: This is primarily an industrial software development and OT/IT integration role, not a traditional PLC programming or basic HMI configuration position.
