Electrical Design Engineer

Title: Electrical / I&C Design Engineer
Assignment: Through 2031
Location: Mineral, VA
Work Arrangement: On-site with 1 remote day per week available
Schedule: Typically 4x10s or 5x8s
Per Diem: Available for eligible non-local candidates – $110/day

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical / I&C Design Engineer to support engineering and project execution within a nuclear/power generation environment. The role will support electrical and I&C design projects, engineering changes, technical reviews, vendor coordination, and field implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and support electrical/I&C design changes and engineering packages.
• Review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Support electrical power systems, relay logic, schematics, circuit design, and related engineering analyses.
• Coordinate technical reviews with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external resources.
• Review vendor drawings, testing documentation, specifications, reports, and technical manuals.
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), field implementation, construction, and project turnover.
• Monitor project schedules, deliverables, milestones, and engineering activities.
• Provide technical support and resolve engineering issues during project execution.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable engineering degree.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in power generation.
• Strong knowledge of electrical/I&C engineering principles, standards, and practices.
• Experience with electrical schematics, relay logic, power systems, circuit design, and engineering calculations.
• Ability to interpret and apply engineering codes, regulations, and specifications.
• Strong technical writing, communication, organization, and project management skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and with multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Nuclear power industry experience.
• Experience with DCS and/or PLC systems.
• Experience with power plant controls, electrical distribution, generator protection, or related systems.
• Experience with 50.59 or equivalent nuclear engineering change processes.
• Experience with Excel, ETAP, MATLAB, or similar engineering calculation tools.
• Experience supporting FAT/SAT and field implementation.
