Broadcast Engineer - Distribution

An established media organization in Northern New Jersey is seeking a Broadcast Engineer, Distribution to support cloud and IP distribution operations for live video workflows.

About the Opportunity:

• Shift: Day shift


• Schedule: Monday to Friday


• Hours: Standard business


• Setting: Hybrid (at least 3 days a week onsite)

Responsibilities:

• Own the reliability and performance of cloud and IP distribution systems across the full delivery chain


• Design, deploy, and maintain workflows using AWS media services, including media transport, playout, packaging, and delivery tools


• Monitor distribution quality and resolve technical issues before they affect live air or downstream platforms


• Support installations, upgrades, migrations, and architecture improvements for distribution systems


• Partner with engineering, operations, and vendors to troubleshoot issues, document procedures, and support live events

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience owning cloud or IP video distribution systems in a broadcast, streaming, or media environment


• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience.


• Hands-on experience with Amagi cloud playout and distribution


• Hands-on experience with Nevion IP media transport and/or TAG Video Systems monitoring


• Working experience with AWS media services, including MediaConnect, MediaLive, MediaPackage, and CloudFront


• Working knowledge of broadcast signal flow, IP networking fundamentals, and system monitoring


• Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with engineering and vendor stakeholders during live operations


• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, 24/7 live production environment

Desired Skills:

• Experience with SMPTE 2110 environments


• Prior exposure to satellite uplink, RF, or fiber transport operations


• Experience supporting distribution for major live news or sports events


• Familiarity with cloud cost optimization for media workloads


• Experience mentoring junior engineers


• Experience with Jira or ServiceNow


• Experience writing SOPs and runbooks
