Job Overview:
The Engineering Manager - Design Engineering is responsible for leading and managing the design engineering team to ensure the successful execution of design engineering activities across assigned customer projects and product lines. This role involves translating project requirements into accurate and manufacturable designs, ensuring timely delivery of engineering deliverables, and maintaining high technical and quality standards. Reporting to the Director of Design Engineering, the Engineering Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day execution of design engineering work across multiple projects.
• Translate customer requirements into complete engineering deliverables.
• Develop and maintain detailed engineering schedules aligned with project milestones.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of design packages, models, customer submittals, and fabrication drawings.
• Identify and mitigate technical, resource, and schedule risks early in the process.
• Lead technical problem-solving during design, procurement, fabrication, and installation phases.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and development for the design engineering team.
• Establish and enforce consistent design practices, review procedures, and quality standards.
• Ensure engineering BOMs are complete, accurate, and aligned with approved designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Project Management, Structural Engineering, Manufacturing, and Procurement.
• Participate in customer design-review meetings and provide clear technical updates and resolutions.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering workflows, tools, and documentation standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• 7-10 years of progressive engineering experience in a manufacturing or engineered-to-order environment.
• Minimum of 3 years of engineering leadership or people-management experience.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and engineering-document-management systems; experience with Autodesk Inventor, Vault, Revit, or AutoCAD preferred.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and BOM-release processes is advantageous.
• Strong technical judgment, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
• Excellent planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.
• Effective written, verbal, and customer-facing communication skills.
• Practical understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
