Senior Snowflake Platform Engineer / Technical Lead

• You must have hands-on experience establishing and operationalising the Snowflake platform itself-from initial architecture and configuration through security, automation and production readiness.
• Experience limited to developing data pipelines, models or analytics solutions on an existing Snowflake platform will not meet this requirement.

• Initial 3-month contract with the option to extend Office-based in Sydney CBD
• Build a Snowflake platform from the ground up and take a hands-on technical leadership role.

We're seeking an experienced Senior Snowflake Platform Engineer / Technical Lead to drive platform implementation, establish secure and scalable environments, and support data-platform modernisation within a large, regulated enterprise.

This opportunity suits a technical leader who enjoys shaping platform architecture while remaining actively involved in engineering, automation and production support.

What you'll do

• Lead hands-on Snowflake platform implementation from the ground up.
• Design, configure and administer Snowflake accounts and environments.
• Manage virtual warehouses, workloads and resource monitoring.
• Implement role-based access control (RBAC), security, authentication and access controls.
• Establish networking, connectivity, monitoring and auditing capabilities.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and automate infrastructure provisioning and deployments.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimise platform performance and resource usage.
• Provide technical direction and engineering guidance while remaining hands-on.

Essential skills and experience

• Proven hands-on Snowflake platform engineering and implementation experience.
• Banking or financial-services experience, including work within large, regulated enterprise environments.
• Strong AWS experience.
• Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Hands-on experience with dbt and Snowpark/Python.
• Experience with Teradata or legacy data-platform modernisation.
• Relevant Snowflake certifications.
• Ability to lead technical delivery while contributing directly to implementation and troubleshooting.
